Bad John and Big Bad John
The Bad John and Big Bad John lures are much larger versions of the Bally-Buddy™. They are plain trolling lures and are not intended to be used in combination with natural deadbaits, though they can be if suitably large baits are required.
They are simple lures to rig and run and are recommended for calm to moderate sea conditions. The smaller Bad John can be run in any position in the lure spread. The larger Big Bad John is best run in the short corner or long corner positions.
The Bad John is an excellent lures for all game fish species including Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Wahoo and all Tuna species. The Big Bad John is primarily a Marlin lure.
Both these lures have short heads and very broad, slightly scooped faces. They are splashy surface lures and tend to run mainly on or near the surface and kick up a huge amount of spray.
