Here are some of Captain Gerard “Frothy” De Silva’s
comments on Sekard trolling lures:
- When I first saw these lures, I knew instantly they were going to
work real well. I’m not easily impressed, but these lures are
something special.
- The new smoke tail skirts definitely add to the performance of the
lure. You only have to run them alongside a similar lure with a regular
skirt to see the difference. The smoke trails are very impressive and,
from the results I’m getting, I’m sure they also put out
a lot of vibration that you don’t get with regular skirts.
- I’ve used just about every make of lure on the planet and the
Sekard lures are outfishing all my regular favourites. They don’t
just run well in the water, they look great too. The heads have the
best finish I’ve ever seen.
- The way the skirts fit is pure genius - I can change the skirt colours
in a matter of seconds and without wrecking the original skirts. They
just push on and pull off by hand and I don’t need to glue or
tie them. Even though they’re so easy to fit I’ve never
had one pull off in use and we’ve run them fast and in some real
rough weather too.
- I really like the entire range of Sekard lures and I’ve already
found a couple of favorites. The HardPlay Special is perfect for my
type of fishing in Tobago and when I need a big marlin lure to run as
a short corner bait, then a large Big Noise is ideal. It creates a lot
of noise (hence the name!) and a monster smoke trail.
- I often like to use small dead baits for the sailfish and whites and
for this type of fishing I will always have a couple of teasers up close
to the boat. The large Broadsword works real well in this position and
is now my #1 teaser lure.
- Probably the most important thing that I can say about these lures
is that they get me strikes and catch fish on hard days, when no other
crews are catching. This gives me a real competitive edge.
