Technical Features

HEADS

Sekard Technology offer a range of lure heads to satisfy most anglers' preferences and to tackle a wide range of sea conditions and trolling speeds. You'll find lures with straight cut face, angle cut face, scoop face and bullet head styles and swimming actions ranging from tight to aggressive. All our head styles have evolved from time proven tournament winning and record setting designs. By adding the unique Smoke Tail™ skirt system we have developed what is truly the ultimate trolling lure range.

All Sekard Technology lure heads are manufactured using advanced vacuum cast resin systems. They have been chosen to provide the ultimate in toughness and durability with exceptional resistance to abrasion and UV degradation. Our advanced manufacturing process ensures consistent quality and density with no large bubbles or voids within our lure heads (take a close look at some other manufacturers' heads to see what we mean). We select ultra clear resins to allow the full effect of our unique iridescent reflective inserts and contrasting fish eye to shine through.

We have selected a uniquely reflective iridescent insert material to encapsulate within all our lure heads. This is much more reflective than the regular holographic materials or polished shell veneers used by other manufacturers. As light reflects from different angles the material changes color, ranging from silver, thro pearl white, pink, purple, orange and green. The highly reflective multi colored "mirror" effect shines like no other and mimics the effect displayed by many prey species when distressed. This acts as the perfect trigger to provoke ferocious strikes from large predators.

All Sekard Technology lure heads feature a special leader tube that extends fully through the length of the head. The carefully selected tubing material will NOT chafe your leader. The internal diameter of the tube is 1/8inch (3mm) which will easily accept leaders up to 600 lbs.

All our lures feature "soft" heads as standard. These offer the angler and crew several practical advantages. They have a more natural "feel" and help to prevent the fish from getting spooked and ensure they will keep coming back for multiple strikes. Our soft (but super-tough) heads will not chip when treated violently during the heat of the action and (more importantly) are far less likely to damage your boat's gel-coat, deck or props. The resin used for our soft heads is super clear, equally as clear as any hard head lures you have ever seen. We also carefully select the resin to ensure they are just soft enough to feel realistic but are not over-soft so as to be spongy. Kind of "soft" but "firm" at the same time is the best way to describe our head material.

SMOKE TAILS™ - Patent Pending

The unique Sekard Technology "Smoke Tails™" are a major advance in trolling lure skirt design. The skirt on any trolling lure can play a vital role in enhancing the action and fish raising ability of the lure. Probably the most valuable fish raising feature of any trolling lure is the smoke (bubble) trail, the longer and denser the smoke trail the greater the visual target available to stimulate the attention of a large predator. The revolutionary Sekard Technology Smoke Tails™ comprise a series of individually engineered strands that form the most advanced trolling lure skirt system currently available. The Smoke Tails™ skirt system works in harmony with the lure head to create a massive smoke trail and to give out intense fish attracting vibration into the water.This is truely an awesome fish raising magnet.

The Smoke Tail™ skirts allow all Sekard Technology lures to run extremely well at relatively low trolling speeds and yet still produce an excellent action and impressive smoke trail. This makes Sekard Technology Smoke Tail™ lures the perfect choice for captains and crews who like to run a mixed spread of both lures and natural dead baits.

Smoke Tails™ are injection molded in flexible but super tough thermoplastic. Smoke Tails™ are tough, durable and highly tangle resistant. Should the day come when you need to change the lure skirts, or if you just want to change the skirt color to suit conditions on the day you'll find Smoke Tails™ incredibly quick and easy to change in just a matter of seconds. They are supplied correctly sized and ready to fit, no cutting required, no tying required, no gluing required. Just pull off the old skirts and slip on the new ones, fast, clean and easy.

We do NOT offer set outer/inner skirt color combinations. All Sekard Technology trolling lures may be selected with an unrestricted choice of outer and inner skirt colors so that you have full choice of the color combination you prefer, even if they may be regarded as unconventional. A number of popular color combinations are illustrated in the Suggested Color Combinations Section, but remember these are suggestions only, you have full choice of the outer/inner combination that you prefer.
